Yet again, I will not be voting in the upcoming midterm elections

November 2, 2026 - by Fred Bates

I refuse to be a part of this spectacle called the 2026 Midterm Elections

The 2026 midterm elections will be held on tomorrow, Tuesday November 3rd. I will not be voting, just as I have not voted in the past several elections. I refuse to be a part of this spectacle in which Republicans and Democrats are spending millions of dollars attacking each other with vile defamatory rhetoric in order to get our vote. Both parties only care about winning the majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate. They only care about power, and they will stoop to any level to attain it. The lack of civility in politics is a big turn-off for me. My life is not going to change dramatically because of which party takes control of Congress.
I am also not voting because I'm disgusted with what is going on with this country. We have become a nation of fools. Everything is about taking sides: Republican versus Democrat, conservative versus liberal, black versus white versus Asian versus Hispanic. You get the picture. It's no longer about right versus wrong or the truth versus a lie. Both parties are guilty of abandoning what made this country great; having strong character and integrity, principles and values, and uncompromising respect for the rule of law. My vote would not change anything.
Even though I have little respect for both parties, my biggest criticism is for Democratic politicians and many of their supporters because of their crazy ideology: wokeness or virtue signaling, DEI, cancel culture, insane fascination with transgender issues, antisemitism, defund the police, sanctuary cities and states, anti-ICE sentiment, and socialism. Democrats, who can't define what a woman is, believe that women deserve to be believed in sexual harassment and sexual abuse cases as if women are inherently more truthful than men. This makes no sense and is inconsistent with due process. No person is inherently more honest than another person because of their gender or their race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic. I'm particularly critical of Democrats' cancel culture mentality as it relates to free speech and voting. They say whatever they want to say, vote for any politician they want to, but will cancel you if you say or have an opinion different from theirs or vote for a politician they despise (Trump); and they are willing to use violence to silence those that they disagree with or vote differently than they do. How is this democracy or make sense in a country where we have a constitution that guarantees everyone the right to free speech and the right to vote for whomever they please? Me voting would not result in change.
I am also disinclined to vote because politicians of both parties (Republican and Democrat) apparently do not understand that their role as elected officials is to work together to address the issues that concern voters. They also seem to not understand that their role as leaders is to promote unity instead of divisiveness and hate, emphasize the importance of good citizenship, strong character, good conduct, personal responsibility and accountability, and respect for the rule of law.
However, my number one reason for not voting is that Congress has failed in its constitutional obligation to exercise oversight over our corrupt and out of control federal judiciary. Our federal judiciary has little regard for the rule of law and individual civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution. Many of our federal courts are rigged, and they enter judgments that are inconsistent with the facts and applicable laws. This blog and the website listed below details criminal misconduct by the U.S. District Court in San Jose and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals during litigation of a lawsuit I filed against the City of San Jose. Yet, Congress has refused to open an investigation into the criminal misconduct by these courts based on my many complaints over the past several years. As a black person that grew up in the South during Jim Crow and the Civil Rights Area, I refuse to vote when government officials today treat me worse that the segregationists.
